Editorial Guidelines & Correction Policy

We are committed to publishing clear, accurate, and transparent financial information so members can make confident decisions.

Last reviewed: January 27, 2026 · Owner: Content & Compliance Team

Editorial Guidelines

1) Accuracy & Fact‑Checking

  • All rates, terms, and product details are verified against official internal data and regulatory sources (e.g., NCUA, applicable state laws and disclosures).
  • Every page is reviewed for quantitative accuracy (APR, APY, fees, eligibility, examples) before publication.
  • Citations and outbound links point to credible sources (e.g., NCUA, IRS, SEC, state regulators) when context is required.

2) Expert Review

  • YMYL content (loans, credit, savings, investing, taxes) is written or reviewed by qualified professionals (e.g., NMLS‑certified loan officers, CFPs, CPAs).
  • Pages include a byline, reviewer name, credentials, and review date when applicable.

3) Transparency & Disclosures

  • We disclose material relationships and any referral/affiliate compensation that may apply to third‑party links or tools.
  • Product comparisons are objective and member‑first; business partners do not influence editorial conclusions.

4) Timeliness & Updates

  • All YMYL pages show Last Updated and are reviewed on a scheduled cadence (e.g., quarterly or when rates/regulations change).
  • Substantial changes (e.g., rate updates) are documented in a visible change note.

5) Accessibility & Clarity

  • We write in plain language, define industry terms (e.g., LTV, DTI), and provide examples and calculators.
  • Pages follow accessibility best practices (alt text, headings, color contrast, keyboard navigation).

Correction Policy

1) Reporting & Triage

  • Members can report inaccuracies via Contact Us or email support@examplecreditunion.com.
  • We triage reports within 2 business days, prioritizing high‑impact YMYL issues.

2) Investigation & Fix

  • Editors verify facts against primary sources and product owners; corrections are published as soon as validation is complete.
  • Where an error could affect a member’s decision (e.g., APR/fees), we add an Update Note explaining what changed and why.

3) Versioning & Transparency

  • Each page shows the latest review date; major updates include a change log entry.
  • We do not remove criticism or negative information solely due to reputation concerns; factual accuracy governs changes.
